How to Get Brand Deals on Instagram: A Practical Guide for Creators
Brands pay creators who make it easy to say yes. That means a clear niche, a profile that looks professional, proof that your audience pays attention, and a simple way to contact you. Here is how to get there.
1. Pick a niche brands can understand
A brand manager should know what you are about within five seconds of opening your profile. "Skincare for oily skin", "budget travel in Southeast Asia" and "home workouts for beginners" are easy to match with products. "Lifestyle" on its own is harder. You can cover several topics, but give your page one clear centre.
2. Switch to a Creator or Business account
A professional account unlocks Insights, which brands will ask for: reach, audience age and location, and how your reels perform. It also lets you add contact buttons, so a brand can email or message you in one tap.
3. Make your bio work like a pitch
Your bio should answer three questions: who you are, who you make content for, and how to reach you. Add a business email and, if you have one, a manager or agency contact. Remove anything that makes a brand guess.
4. Post content that shows what a brand deal would look like
Brands want to picture their product in your content. Make regular posts that naturally feature products you already use: unboxings, routines, reviews, before-and-afters. Keep the quality consistent. Three strong reels a week usually do more for you than seven rushed ones.
5. Know your numbers
Before you pitch, take screenshots of your last 30 days of Insights: reach, average reel views, saves, shares and your top audience countries. Engagement and views matter more to most brands than follower count alone.
6. Pitch brands directly
Start with brands you already use and like. Send a short message:
- One line on who you are and your niche
- Why their product fits your audience
- Two or three content ideas
- Your key numbers and a link to your best reels
Follow up once after a week. Many deals come from the follow-up.
7. Price your work and say no to "exposure"
Decide your rates before a brand asks. Consider the content type (reel, story, static post), usage rights (can the brand use it in ads?), exclusivity, and how much work the shoot takes. Barter can make sense for products you genuinely want, but your time has value. "Exposure" does not pay rent.
8. Get it in writing
Agree on deliverables, posting dates, approval rounds, usage rights and payment terms before you start. A short email confirming everything protects both sides.
